AFNORTH Imagery Requirements

Airborne reconnaissance and delivery of imagery to varied customers is a critical function of CAP aircrews. Most imagery missions are accomplished as Air Force Assigned Missions approved by 1st, 11th, and 13th Air Force.  When doing so, they generally require imagery to be geotagged and loaded to the Hazard Data Distribution System (HDDS).  Instructions for loading imagery to HDDS, software updates, camera kit instructions, and other useful information is available in the Web Mission Information Reporting System (WMIRS) welcome page under "Imaging/SDIS Information and Updates". Some missions, like counterdrug and homeland security operations, may require imagery to be provided direct to the customer.  When supporting missions in a corporate status, the CAP National Operations Center may require imagery to be loaded to HDDS in anticipation of federal disaster declaration; most state emergency management agencies use HDDS regularly to support their operations, so this should not be an added burden.  Should you have any questions about imagery requirements, feel free to contact the CAP NOC at opscenter@capnhq.gov.
