Exceptional Achievement Awards
Named in honor of the Air Force major considered by CAP historians to be the first Public Affairs officer to serve CAP at the national level in the '50s, the Maj. Howell Balsem CAP Public Affairs Exceptional Achievement Awards competition provides PAOs with the opportunity for recognition of outstanding achievements in a variety of categories.
The following entries were selected from the many excellent submissions received for the competition. Winners were recognized at the awards luncheon Aug. 6 in Kissimmee, Fla. The awards were presented by then-Brig. Gen. Amy Courter, then-interim national commander, with a keynote address delivered by Miles O'Brien, CNN correspondent.
