Member involvement generates a member’s perceived value for the organization, which will result in a greater sense of commitment from the member and provides the opportunity to capitalize on the members’ skills, talents, and expertise to help fulfill the organization’s goals

  • Member involvement is crucial for two reasons:

  • The organization’s culture has a significant impact on the level of member involvement
  • The organization needs to create an environment that invites member involvement
  • Involvement covers a wide range of member actions, including participating in activities, volunteering, and a willingness to assume a leadership role
  • Involvement provides the association the opportunity to observe, recruit, and train volunteers and identify future leaders

 
For the Purpose of Involving New Members, Choose Current Members Who Are:

  • Not interested in typical recruiting activities
  • Interested in serving in a mentor role
  • Well informed of squadron activities
  • The person in this role acts as a conduit between the more experienced, involved members and the new member.
  • This person eases the transition from new member to active/involved member to satisfied/renewing member

  • Mentoring new members
  • Greeter at meetings
  • Squadron newsletter/bulletin editor
  • Specialty tracks
  • Personalized notes of appreciation to members who have made contributions
  • Recognize volunteers by name at meetings
  • Publish a list of jobs that need filling in newsletter or post the list during meetings
