What is the Cadet Program all about? What do cadets do? "Cadet Life in the Civil Air Patrol" is a 3-minute video introduction to the Cadet Program. It focuses on what the typical cadet can do during his or her first year in CAP. The video is intended for use during squadron open houses, at airshow recruiting booths, during visits to schools, and anytime you want to show someone what the Cadet Program is all about.
The video is available on YouTube and in our Library'sCadet Great Start section: www.capmembers.com/greatstart
We developed this video in house, sort of as a stopgap until our professional video folks can provide us with something better. If you’ve made similar videos on your own, tell us about them. Include the URL in your comment below.
In the meantime, we hope "Cadet Life" fulfills your need for a general video illustrating what's cool about the CAP Cadet Program.

I agree entirely with earlier posts saying that the video can be improved. Things such as interviews with cadets and short video clips of activities as well as a contiguous soundtrack would improve the video greatly. It is something that can, and hopefully through the video competition, will be worked on.
I want to join i think it is cool
It awsome to be in this program you get to do a lot of stuff others cant
I really enjoyed watching this video. As a recruiter, I think that it will help me with both recruiting AND retention. For recruiting, it will help to show potential members what there is to do in the Civil Air Patrol. As for retention, this video is going to help to show cadets who are not participating actively, what they are missing. Great Job!
The video needs to be on a disc and sent to those squadrons, if it is to be of any use. Interviews with cadets and seniors need to be included
The video is now available as a .mov file. It is located in our Library's Cadet Great Start section: www.capmembers.com/greatstart
I think that some pictures with more video coverage is needed. Also, where is the .wmv for this video? It would be nice to be able to show it in other places and be able to actually use it not just see it. I covers everything, but it just needs improvement.
While having it on YouTube is nice, if you want people to be able to "use during squadron open houses, at airshow recruiting booths, during visits to schools, and anytime you want to show someone what the Cadet Program is all about.", you are going to want to have it available as a directly downloadable video format, .mp4, .wmv, .mpg
The video should be a downloadable file. This will help to be use on diferent presentation when internet is not available.
I think that instead of just pictures they might put a little bit of footage in too. Maybe let some of the cadets actually speak of the great experiences or the favorite parts of cap, something like that. I think it's a great little movie and all, but I think this one will spark off some great recruting videos and tactics in the future.
The initiative sounds really great, so congratulations on it. However, it will make it more useful if the url is readily available right in this page. Keep up the good work!
I enjoyed this video but I agree with the above comment. I think there is too many pictures. Though this does showcase the amount of activities and opportunities we have available, it does detract in some ways. All of the points in the show are very good and I love the use of current pictures. I think that future videos should include interviews and actual videos of activities showcasing the cadets and other members in action.
While I think that this video covers the many aspects of the Cadet Program, I do feel that a still photo slide show lacks the persuasive effect of video and interviews with cadets. I believe that future renditions of this video will be better if interviews with cadets are incorporated along with video instead of just still pictures.
