CAP Rocketry Program Resources

Thanks to Lt Col Steve Stein from OH-219 for the following CAP Rocketry Program Resources!!!

Rocketry tests are not available online.  If your squadron cannot locate a copy of a rocketry test, the commander or test control officer may request a copy from Judy Stone at jstone@capnhq.gov.

Thanks to Maj Jason Smith from NH-010 for the following CAP Rocketry Program Resources!!!

I believe that squadrons participating in the rocketry program that don’t have the fiscal resources, or appropriate facilities to launch traditional model rockets will find something like this very reasonable.  All of the equipment can be found at any home improvement/hardware store, and many people have most needed pieces already at their home.

My unit has built two of these launchers for a cost of approximately $17.00 each. The most expensive piece has been the pressure gauge ($6.50).

In comparison, units opting to use the “water bottle rocket” method will find that launchers start at approximately $45.00 (single rocket) and can be upwards of $250.00 (multiple rocket).

Also, with the ability to control the amount of pressure and angle of the launch, it adds an additional element to the lesson.  Participants can use basic calculations to determine how far their rockets will go and can participate in accuracy, distance, height, etc competitions rather easily.

The original plans can be found here:

The plans also have an accompanying lesson plan to go with them:
