SUBJECT: Inspector General Investigation

1. In accordance with AFl 90-301, Inspector General Complaints, paragraph 2.25, you are appointed to conduct a Category II Inspector General investigation into all aspects of the facts and circumstances concerning as XXXXX CAP Wing member's complaint against the XXXXX CAP Wing for prejudicial treatment and a lack of due process. CAP-USAF considers this investigation your primary CAPRAP duty until the investigation is complete. However, this does not preclude the Region Commander using you for other duties as necessary. In accordance with AFl 90-301, the CAP-USAF/CC recognizes and authorized the potential disparity between the rank of the investigating officer and the rank of a CAP volunteer.

2. You are authorized to interview personnel, take statements or testimony, and examine and copy any and all relevant Air Force and Civil Air Patrol records. All records, files and correspondence relative to the matter under investigation, controlled by the Air Force or Civil Air Patrol, will be made available to you.

3. Follow the provisions of AFl 90-301 adjusted to fit within the framework of CAPR 123-2. You will find the attached SAF/IG Investigation Officer Guide contains many helpful hints.

4. Prepare and submit to me a Report of Investigation and a Summary Report of Investigation lAW AFl 90-310. Suggest you contact my IG, Lt Col XXX XXXX (334) XXX-XXXX to discuss the mixing of AF and CAP procedures to complete this investigation and your liaison region host-base SJA for tips and techniques for conducting investigations.

5. You have 120 days to complete your investigation and prepare your report for submission back to HQ CAP-USAF/CC. For tracking purposes, submit a Progress Report on the 30th day from date of this letter and on the first of every month thereafter until your final report is complete. Region will provide mandays and funding for your investigation.

6. You may not at any time release any information included in this case without approval of CAP/EX and/or CAP-USAF/CC.
